Balaka- Bivas Bhattacharjee

BALAKA BHATTACHARAYA : “In the end my life has been an honour, a privilege to have been trained by a great master like my father and though I have not chosen to follow in his footsteps as per his techniques are concerned, however, in my life he has indeed been a guide, a mentor a true inspirer in my day to day world as well in my work” Balaka has been a student of her father, the late eminent painter Bikash Bhattacharjee. She did MA in Painting from College for the Creative Arts, Canterbury, UK. In 2002, she was selected as one of the finalist in the art competition organized by “Camlin Art Foundation,” for her painting “Hunter”. Her first solo show was held at The Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata in 2003. From then on she exhibited in several group exhibitions. Some noteworthy ones are Show organized by Gallery Sanskriti at India Habitat Centre in 2004, Annual Show at Birla Academy, Kolkata, Gallery Art & Soul, New Delhi in 2005 besides a group show at Chattham, England in 2005. Apart from this she also took part in an art camp organized by Sanskriti Gallery.
