Jagriti Arts Initiative in association with Museum of Egyptian Modern Art organized a rendezvous between senior and established Egyptian and Indian Painters at the Museum of Egyptian Modern Art premises on 17th March, 2007 .
In all, 18 artists have participated in the event 12 artists from Egypt and 6 artists from India. The artists spent quality time interacting with each other, absorbing cultural issues and exchanging ideas about their style of work etc. It was a memorable exciting experience for all concerned and "such a cultural exchange has taken place for the first time after 1927" - informed Mr. Ahmad Fouad Selim, the Director General of Egyptian Modern Art Museum.
The Egyptian delegation was led by His Excellency Mr. Mohsen Shaalan, Under Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of Egypt.
The event was actively supported by the Indian Embassy in Cairo and its representative, Dr. Basheer Ahmad, First Secretary (Culture) & Director, Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (ICCR) was present to encourage this occasion.
More such events and exchanges are planned in the future between the artists of these two countries which share ancient heritage and historical roots.
